Hare's Lug
Contributed by: Warren Frank

Recipe
Hook:Pretty much any hook you like.
Thread:Brown 8/0
Ribbing:Copper wire. Gold tinsel is another option.
Body:Hare's ear dubbing
Hackle:One turn of brown partridge hackle. Brown hen would work just fine, as would pretty much any game bird hackle.
Notes:From Warren - You'll notice that I left about half of the hook shank undressed. This is the "original" way of dressing the fly. Many people dress the fly with a longer body. Let your eye guide you as you see fit.

I used hair cut from a hare's mask, as per the old dressing. But, there are many pre-packaged hare dubbings available if you prefer. Many have antron or other reflective fibers mixed in which gives the fly an attractive "shimmery" appearance.
