3/20-3/21 - Stream Restoration Project Planning Workshop
TU will be hosting a stream restoration training on March 20 and 21 in Westby, Wisconsin. The weekend-long training will provide information on a number of useful topics, including:

Stream monitoring
Stream restoration
Project planning
How to fund restoration projects
Grant writing
Summer youth camps
How to develop successful partnerships
Stream shocking demo
TU's Conservation Success Index

Presentations will be made by Dave Vetrano, Area Fisheries Biologist, who will discuss the Riparian Corridor (ARC) Habitat Project on Timber Coulee and Mike Miller, WI DNR, Stream Ecologist will give a must-see presentation on "Exploring Wisconsin's Trout Waters." TU volunteer Dan Wisniewski will give a presentation on "Working Together: TU and Local Land TrustsNew National and State Grant Programs."

Participants will receive a project planning tool kit and reference materials useful for implementing stream restoration projects. Participants will have the chance to win great door prizes. The weekend-long training will held at the Living Waters Bible Camp in Westby and will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 20. The training will conclude at noon on Sunday, March 21. There will be time on Saturday to fish the nearby coulees.

Hiawatha Chapter Meetings
Hiawatha meets indoors October through May the first Monday of each month, 7pm, at the Izaak Walton Lodge in Rochester. From June through September we meet informally, on-stream. Check the newsletter at hiawathatu.org for more info on meetings.



Twin Cities Chapter Meetings
TCTU meets September through June, 6:30pm at REI in Bloomington, MN. Check the TCTU website at twincitiestu.org for meeting dates and speakers.



Parker Creek (WI)
Kiaptuwish has resumed work over on Parker Creek, a tributary of the Kinni, where they are currently removing box elders and other brush to get ready for the work which will be done this summer. There is a link on the Kiaptuwish website with directions and specifics about any future workdays.
